Meg Luckins

Meg is a freelance consultant adviser working as projects manager in countries of the former Soviet Union. A fluent Russian speaker (she studied at London University School of Slavonic and East European Studies), she has spent the last 10 years with a special focus on Central Asia (in particular Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan).

Meg's particular interest is in country training and capacity building for local teams. She has been working to develop Third Party Arbitration mechanisms to expand access to legal protection and the rule of law in order to contribute to poverty reduction in countries of the former Soviet Union.

Based in Edinburgh she has written many articles and lectures extensively on various aspects of the FSU. In 2002 she co-organised a symposium on Central Asia held in the University of Edinburgh and contributed a chapter entitled ‘Independent Kyrgyzstan; liberalisation and economic reform’ in ‘Oil, Transition and Security in Central Asia’, (RoutledgeCurzon, New York 2003).
