Emily Carr, Attachments Director

Emily has worked for the John Smith Memorial Trust since 2001.  She is responsible for organising the Fellows' Attachments.  She has developed the Trust's contacts with national and local government, the legal profession, media and voluntary organisations and has a network of over 150 attachment hosts who provide placements for John Smith Fellows.  Emily also assists the Trust with a wide range of other projects.

Emily graduated from the University of York in 1994.  Since then she has gained extensive experience in local and national government and the voluntary sector.

Her previous roles have included:

  • PA to Cllr. Nicky Gavron, Chair, London Planning Advisory Cttee. (now Deputy Mayor for London)
  • Researcher for The Leader of the House of Commons, The Rt. Hon Ann Taylor MP
  • Executive Officer for The Leader of the London Borough of Lewisham
  • Parliamentary Relations Officer at The Prince's Trust, a leading UK charity that helps disadvantaged young people overcome barriers to reach their potential and transform their lives through practical support including training, mentoring and financial assistance.
