Sarah Smith
Sarah Smith is the Channel 4 News Washington Correspondent. She was previously the first newsreader on More4 News on Channel 4's digital television sister channel More4.
Sarah began her career at BBC Scotland after graduating from Glasgow University. She went on to produce programmes such as Newsnight, Public Eye, and Rough Guides. Sarah joined Channel 4 News as Scotland correspondent in 1998, covering all aspects of Scottish news and politics as well as regularly presenting the news from London and covering stories from as far afield as Moscow and Washington. She also used to write a regular weekly column for the Scotsman Newspaper.
Sarah went on to present More4 News, a nightly half-hour programme on More4. With Sarah as anchor, More4 News has had a very successful first year since its launch in October 2005.
As well as maintaining an obvious interest in news and current affairs, Sarah also pursues her enthusiasm for the performing arts and the Edinburgh Festival as a director of Assembly Theatre - one of the premier Festival Fringe Venues.
Sarah is one of John Smith's daughters.
