Academic Programme: 8th - 12th June, Edinburgh
First week of the Academic Programme including sessions led by: Rt. Hon. George Reid, the Scottish Public Services Ombudsman, the European Parliament Office, University of Edinburgh, Queen Margaret University, University of Strathclyde, and Creative Scotland
Visit to the Scottish Parliament: Meetings with Members of the Scottish Parliament, meeting with the Presiding Officer, and observing First Minister’s Questions
Reception at Bute House, the residence of the First Minister of Scotland, hosted by Fiona Hyslop MSP
Visit to the Scotland Russia Forum
Visit to Law Courts led by Trustee Lord McCluskey
The Leadership Trust: 12th - 14th June, Ross-on-Wye, Hereford
Weekend Conference on ‘The Quality of Western Democracy’ and ‘Good Governance’
Individual Professional Visits throughout UK: 15th - 25th June
Programme of individual attachments throughout the UK to parliamentarians, local government, voluntary organisations, academics and others, reflecting each Fellows’ professional interests, including a seminar organised by the Ministry of Justice.
Academic Programme: 29th June - 3rd July, London
Second week of Academic Programme including sessions led by: Rt Hon Sir Menzies Campbell MP, Damian Green MP, Conciliation Resources, Jon Snow, BP, RBS, Foreign & Commonwealth Office, Henry Jackson Society, Centre for European Reform, The Guardian, Lord Kingsland, Baroness Stern, Rt Hon Stephen Byers MP, Progress, and the Royal Society of Arts.
Anniversary Conference 4th - 6th July, London
Weekend workshops at City Inn for John Smith alumni and 2009 Fellows on EU Funding and US Funding
Anniversary Reception held at City Inn followed by anniversary lecture delivered by the Foreign Secretary the Rt Hon David Miliband MP at St. John’s Church, Smith Square
Meeting with the Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. Gordon Brown MP, at No. 10 Downing Street
