Weekend Retreat

The Leadership Trust Weekend Retreat

One of the highlights of the Fellowship Programme is the annual Weekend Retreat sponsored by the Leadership Trust, who kindly welcome our Fellows and invited guests to their conference centre in Ross-on-Wye, Hereford. Paul Winter, their Chief Executive, runs an interactive session specifically for our Fellows on ‘Values and Behaviours of Tomorrow’s Leaders’, focussing on examples from the Trust’s seven Fellowship countries.

The Leadership Trust is dedicated to the development of leadership skills in individuals and organisations and is therefore an inspirational model to the many young leaders who take part in our programme.

Fellows are joined by Trustees, Advisors and a number of specialists who provide their expert opinion on the topics discussed. This year, Phillip Dunne MP (Conservative Party) and Lewis Baston (Electoral Reform Society) led a session on ‘The Mechanics of Winning Elections’, chaired by Trust Advisor Lord Dubs.  Professor Alan Johnson spoke to Fellows and guests about ‘The Future of Democracy’, and a panel of experts led a discussion on the positive and negative aspects of British democracy. The final session of the weekend, chaired by Simon Fanshawe, looked at the level of democratic development in the Fellows own countries.
