Natalia is Head of the Strategic Management and International Relations Division of the Moldovan Customs Service. The Customs Service of the Republic of Moldova is a law enforcement body of the Ministry of Finance. The Moldovan Customs Service is responsible for the following:

- Ensuring the security of the international circulation of goods and means of transportation
- The collection of import and export duties
- Fighting customs fraud
- Promoting customs policies to ensure economic security and trade facilitation
- Contribution to the development of a professional and transparent administration, implementing international standards of customs clearance and protecting society by enforcing customs legislation

Natalia’s division is responsible for the strategic management and modernisation of the Moldovan Customs Administration in line with World Customs Organisation recommendations and EU standards. The main responsibilities of the division are to ensure the development and implementation of the Institutional Development Plan, to manage regional and international cooperation in the customs field, and to promote transparency in customs activities.

Reform of the Customs Service is central to good governance in Moldova and its relations with the European Union. Natalia’s aim is to gain the relevant experience in the UK to produce a strategic five year plan for the Moldovan Customs Service.

She was previously a Lecturer in Customs Law at the Moldova State University and was a Legal Consultant to the TACIS Project ‘Partnership and Collaboration Agreement between the Republic of Moldova and the European Union’.  She also acted as the secretary of the MOLDPRO Committee within the Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
