Andrei Popov

In November 2009, Andrei was appointed Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Moldova. He was elected as a Member of Parliament (Democratic Party) in the July 2009 parliamentary elections following his decision to stand in the election during the 2009 Fellowship Programme.


He was previously the Executive Director of the Foreign Policy Association of Moldova. In 2007 he was re-elected for a second three-year-term. The Foreign Policy Association of Moldova (A.P.E.) is a NGO think-tank set up in 2004 by a group of well-known public figures, analysts and former senior officials and diplomats in order to develop foreign policy, support the country’s integration into the European Union and achieve a political settlement in Transdniestria.
