Tural Veliyev
2008 Fellow, Azerbaijan

Tural graduated from the London School of Economics (LSE) in 2009 studying Development Management (MSc).
At the time of the 2008 Fellowship Programme, Tural worked for BP in Azerbaijan as their Community Investment Team Leader. Tural led on all CIPs in Azerbaijan - one of which was awarded a Global Helios Award in 2004.
Tural’s position gave him a diverse portfolio of work, including micro-finance, economic reform, good governance and support for vulnerable groups. He managed relations with implementing partner NGOs and many of the projects he was responsible for are breaking new ground in Azerbaijan in terms of innovation in delivery.
Tural is Founder and Director of the Free Minds Association, a leading think tank working to promote human rights, justice, peace and the rule of law among Azerbaijani people.
Tural receives the Golden Umbrella Award for the 'Best Think Tank in Market Economies' (December 2007, London)
