Hovhannes Nikoghosyan

2011 Fellow, Armenia

Hovhannes is a Research Fellow at the Information and Public Relations Centre – a think-tank operating under the Administration of the President. At the Centre, Hovhannes focuses his research on Armenia’s foreign policy and international organisations.

Between May 2008 and December 2011 he has been the Director and Research Fellow at the Public Policy Institute, an independent not-for-profit foundation dedicated to providing research and analysis in the fields of politics, economics, law and social welfare. During 2010, Hovhannes was a Visiting Fellow (Russia and Eurasia Program) at the Centre for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) in Washington DC.

Hovhannes is interested in learning about the Northern Ireland peace process and what lessons, if any, can be drawn from this and applied to the resolution of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict. In 2011 Hovhannes will be involved in the project ´Karabakh: The Big Debate´ sponsored by the European Commission as part of the European Partnership for the Peaceful Settlement of the Conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh (EPNK). He hopes to encourage the EPNK to re-establish a Forum of Intellectuals in order to work towards the development of a sustainable peace.

After earning his post-graduate degree in July 2011, Hovhannes was appointed as Chair of the Political Processes and Technologies Department at the Russian-Armenian (Slavonic) University.
