Advisory Board member, the Rt Hon George Reid, takes up office this week in Edinburgh as Lord High Commissioner

Advisory Board member, the Rt Hon George Reid, takes up office this week in Edinburgh as Lord High Commissioner. As personal representative of the Queen to the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland, holding a position which dates back to the 16th century, he is based in the Palace of Holyroodhouse.  There he will receive over 400 guests for lunch and dinner, and entertain over 1500 at a Garden Party.  He also makes the opening and closing Addresses to the Assembly and, flying the Royal Standard, visits civic organisations throughout the country. Among overnight guests at the Palace are two Trustees of the John Smith Memorial Trust : Baroness Smith of Gilmorehill and Lord McCluskey.
