Nadine Saba is a founder and Project Manager of the Akkar Network for Development (AND), an NGO working to empower youth in rural Northern Lebanon.
She set up AND with the view to improving her home town which is one of the most deprived areas in Lebanon. Her work involves interacting with municipalities, community based organisations, youth, women and the recent influx of Syrian refugees to Northern Lebanon. Her projects have included managing grants process’ for SMEs, inspiring women and youth to participate in public life, and empowering women elected in their constituency. Nadine has previously worked with political parties, helping build their capacity, strengthening their internal structure, and designing and interpreting political opinion surveys. She has also worked with the Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI) to create an alumni network.
Nadine believes that greater citizen engagement in politics is essential for creating a better future for Akkar. Through her action plan Nadine aims to create an active civil society in Akkar, increasing the organisational capacity of AND and empowering people to know their rights and exercise these rights during elections.
