She has worked extensively with the UN Iraq Operations Centre (UNOPS), the International Labour Organisation and Mercy Corps. Nigar is also a qualified lawyer specialising in social security, civil and land law. During her legal career she served as a legal consultant to commercial companies, a chamber of commerce and an international economic development organisation.
To promote economic growth in Iraqi Kurdistan Nigar plans to support and empower women in the Arbat refugee camp in Sulaymaniyah to gain access to finance and effectively manage their financial resources. Working in partnership with the Business Information Center of the Sulaymaniyah Chamber of Commerce Nigar will recruit women from the Arbat refugee camp who will form a network of self-help groups and participate in targeted training programmes on how to plan work and set up their own businesses. Nigar hopes that this support network will give women more financial confidence and lead them into employment and contribute to the overall economic growth of the region.
