Zakeya Ali is Head of Educational Programmes at the Ministry of Culture in Bahrain where she is responsible for designing and implementing cultural and artistic educational awareness programmes for school children. Each year she oversees the organization of the highly anticipated Nakhool City event, part of The Bahrain Summer Festival which attracts over 10,000 individuals including children and families from Bahrain and neighbouring countries. Zakeya has previously worked as the National Country Coordinator for the Global Learning and Observations to Benefit the Environment programme (GLOBE), an interactive science education programme for primary and secondary school children and is now a member of their International Advisory Committee.
Zakeya is interested in promoting the principles of tolerance and diversity among children in Bahrain through art. Through her action plan she aims to develop an extra-curricular initiative that will bring together children from different ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds, allowing them to learn about art and expression whilst simultaneously promoting a culture of peace.
