Almaz is the Director of ZETH Standards, a recently established company producing construction materials.
Prior to this he was Head of Procurement at Manas International Airport where he planned, executed, and finalised the purchase and procurement strategies across the organisation. As a head of procurement he was also responsible for acting as a liaison between the procurement unit and other departments.
Almaz is a lawyer by profession, and since 2001 he has held a number of leadership positions in Government and the private sector.
His successes have included the humanisation of the criminal justice system through the introduction of restorative justice and conciliation procedures in order to reduce penalties for minor offences. Along with other initiatives the project has resulted in a decrease in the prison population of around 40% over a three year period. This initiative has been supported by lecturing at the State University, his analytical handbook on human rights and training of penitentiary staff in reforming the penitentiary system.
Almaz's action plan was aimed at establishing an appropriate business climate and boosting the prospects for successful growth in Kyrgyzstan by reforming corporate policie and enhancing competitive advantages in his own company as well as more widely in the business environment of Kyrgyzstan. He wants to be able to orient production to consumer demand, contribute to the legislative reform initiatives, and strengthen export competitiveness.
